The San Luis Obispo County Genealogical Society has begun a project to index all of the Great Registers & Voter Registration Books in their Genealogical Libraries. These valuable resources are not available anywhere else in the County.

Martha Graham <mawr@sbcglobal.net> is Coordinating Project Manager and Julia George <fnjg@charter.net> is 'Transcription Team Leader'. Michele McCaffrey is "Consulting Librarian." We are looking for volunteers to transcribe the various Registers.

The Carpenter's Index Transcription Project

The San Luis Obispo County Genealogical Society, in conjunction with the San Luis Obispo County Historical Society, began a project to transcribe the Carpenter's Index - an index to the Land Transactions [Deeds]. We were able to do one book. Since it took over a year to do one and there are five, it was decided to try and photograph the rest of the books. Since that decision was made, we have not been granted access to the rest of the books. As far as we are able to ascertain, the books are in the possession of the San Luis Obispo County Historical Society.
