Admit it, sometimes we get desperate for something different to do in therapy. Here's an idea for the multi-modality fans. Instead of doing an assignmnent on paper or on a classroom board, try going ultra-tactile. Build a portable sandbox and use it as a prop to facilitate language. Keep a lookout for a large cardboard carton or a metal pan. If you really get carried away you can convert an old wagon into a sandmobile. When you get your container picked out just line it with plastic and dump in the sand. Ask a local building supply to donate some. Keep a spray bottle of water handy so that the sand stays moist. Erase with a ruler. Once your box is ready you've got a new therapy tool. Use your language facilitation techniques to work toward individual goals.
